The vineyard surrounding the Pitars winery is part of a particular, stony but rich landscape, the result of nature’s incessant work.

Vigna San Cristoforo has a gravelly and light soil of 40 hectares, where we mainly grow grapes for white wines – Friulano, Pinot Grigio, Prosecco, Sauvignon and Traminer – but also Merlot, the vine that brings us back to the origins of the history of Pitars.
The estate towards which our cellar looks is near a ford of the Tagliamento river. This is why it was dedicated to San Cristoforo who, according to legend, helped wayfarers to overcome the dangerous waters of a river thanks to his gigantic stature and exceptional strength.
