The vineyards of Pitars winery, cultivated with low yields per hectare, extend in Friuli Venezia Giulia between the provinces of Pordenone and Udine for more than 160 hectares: in San Martino al Tagliamento, Rivolto and Passariano, right next to the magnificent Villa Manin.

Our vineyards are located in a unique territory, protected by the Denominazione di Origine Controllata (DOC) Friuli Grave. This territory lies on the riverbed of the Tagliamento, the last wild river in Europe, which preserves its original sinuous course, with clear waters flowing on a wide stony bed.

The Grave are nothing more than the deposit of pebbles, gravel and sand brought downstream by the Tagliamento, the result of an incessant work that has lasted for millennia. An apparently stingy soil, but which can be generous thanks to the care we dedicate to it and to a climate very suitable for the cultivation of vines. While in the north the mountains shelter from the cold and in the south the Adriatic Sea gives its beneficial effect, the grapes of the Grave del Friuli grow healthy and rich in those aromas that develop also thanks to the temperature range between day and night, enhanced by the large areas covered with stones.

From this particular terroir and from these fragrant grapes we produce quality wines with a strong personality, awarded by the most important national and international oenological competitions.
